Winter Market

It is a winter tradition to hold markets, to try to limit the influence of the goblins. There is a chance for prestige at the market, and for underhanded dealing… many of the things sold are services instead of goods. This event occurred February 23.

The Winter Market had a small turnout this year, with many notable absentee individuals. Of particular note, only the Winter King and Mr. Ersatz were in attendance for the Winter Court. The other courts were much more complete, but most were lacking a member or two.

In dark news, the city had gone mad with killings and fae attacks, the dreamscape was a battlefield and problems beset the court. But that did not stop commerce from commencing.

The Winter court had their share of items, but they were more keen on selling their services. The Summer court came out with an arsenal. The Spring came with Art, flowers and cosmetics. The courtless came with trifles and dreams, befitting their specialties. Bobby 12-Times was manning The original Lord Waffle of Wafflehaus Wafflehouse in the corner, where you could get a waffle for your fealty to Lord Waffle, as well as selling other goods. The Autumn court came as a junior member of the goblin courts. In fact, the Scarecrow King was selling the armband of one of the honourguard of one of the Cons, and had Goblin shears to make transactions. Goblin shears being one of the main ways the goblins are able to easily harvest large intangible transactions. The Scarecrow King also had managed to scare up some items of great interest. Primarily, he had some Emperor’s Grass, a very rare Goblin Fruit of sorts, that whispers the secrets of the fae to you. He also managed to get from the Goblins some of Emily Drumlin’s magical cloth and the War Robes and Breast Plate of Egalabalus. All had long bidding wars that would sound like madness to an outsider. For example, how does the going rate of one’s Shadow relate to the going rate of a great hope. Ultimately, the Grass went to Lord Uxbridge, the Cloth to The Winter King, and the Vestments of Elagabalus to Quincy Knight. These transactions sent ripples out through the Wyrd, as whatever the Scarecrow King received for them was a dear price.

About halfway through the evening, before the items were sold, Twitch, the slightly mad technician of the local RFF (he said that he himself was blue tuned) made his first appearance ever amongst the community, demanding that Bobby quit broadcasting. Bobby’s broadcasts had driven him to this, the constant countdown incessant in his skull. Somehow, the Scarecrow King sent him away, after he wouldn’t quit.

Transactions done, the group disbanded and went about their ways, richer and poorer in their own ways.
